Shhh – we’re about to let you in on one of the best-kept secrets in Southwest Florida. Rotonda and Rotonda West, is a planned community that’s unique in many ways, including its shape. If you see it from an airplane or a detailed map, you’ll clearly see it’s shaped like a wagon wheel that’s missing a section. Surrounding the outside of the wheel is a closed, 30-mile freshwater canal system, which also flows into each of the pie-shaped wedges that form its neighborhoods. Three bridges link Rotonda to the surrounding mainland. To the south is a protected wetland populated by alligators, great blue herons, egrets, bobcats, raccoons, gophers, turtles and other native species. If you enjoy seeing wildlife in their natural settings, you’ll love it.
